Sunflower

Helianthus annus

Sunflower seed oil is one of the most widely used and important oils in our skincare, because there is so much research on how beneficial it can be for skin! Plus, it is one of the most sustainable oilseed crops and it grows wonderfully on the farm.

We grow tons of sunflowers every year and cold press the seeds by hand in our oil press. It is such a great oil that we do not quite have the capacity to grow enough sunflowers to make all of the oil we need currently. We purchase the rest of our sunflower oil from another farm in Southern Colorado that also cold-presses the oil on their farm, and uses the byproducts as animal feed to create a zero-waste system. We love this farm and are happy to partner with them to obtain all of the local, fresh, beautiful sunflower oil that we need!
